Awaken-Mission of Struggle

Awaken: On a Mission of Struggle

Over the next few days I do, as I planned. I attach the tube every sleep cycle, and slowly most of the recalls stop. I concentrate on my tasks, and I am once again part of the efficient machine.
Only here and there I catch a glimpse of a recall. A sound, a scent, a face or a creature… A sort of a glitch here and there. I try my hardest not to dwell on it. But it’s as if I cannot help it. I seem to forget to not pay attention to the recalls and it gets me every time.

After another sleep cycle I hear the sound of drums and Patch and I walk down the hall passing others without looking at them. We never see any similar savages down here. Before my wonderings and noticing of things I’ve never seen a sane similar. My mind starts to wander. I enter a platform lift. It starts moving upwards and we take turns to have our clear body covering sprayed on by tiny spouts in the panel on the wall. The protective material is Read More…

Awaken-A Shattered Perception

Awaken Chapter 3-A Shattered Perception

Frozen to the spot I listen to the footsteps’ echo bouncing off the walls. The sound travels up the huge spiral ramp never dying completely. I spring into action. I hop on the wall and crawl all the way up to the ceiling. I hold my breath. Two bodies clad in black enter my vision field. To my astonishment they are not one of us. They are similars!  I am struggling to comprehend what it means. These similars are not savage, even the glow around them is different, colorful, not black or grey like the creatures from the lab. They carry weapons. Danger! They must not see me. They make sounds with their mouths to each other. Strange.

I wait for them to disappear behind the bend and make my way down. I reach the door at the bottom. It’s huge. I crawl up and look through the small window into another corridor. The lights are off, and I do not see a single living thing, but it looks very different to our level. The space is drenched in color, and there are objects everywhere, huge soft chairs and matching tables, and white panels blinking occasionally are hanging on the walls. Why don’t we have this? It looks rather pleasing. Another fragment flashes in my mind. Faces, lots of them. None I recognize. I am not sure what I am recalling. There is a sensation of softness, then pull… Read More…

Awaken Part 2-Soft Little Savage

Awaken part 2 Gia Joseph Giasuniverse

Similar savages are much taller than us, but the one they brought in the other day was unusually small. Easily managed by just one body. A five fingered female. Still strange looking with head covering the color of a bright light and its small eyes like the masses of water we fly over on our flight missions. At first it screamed and trashed about like the rest of them. Normally, I would just strap it in and do the job, but this time I watched it for a little while like I watch everything nowadays, and to my amazement it went downright quiet. It reached at the exam screen, but pulled its hand away almost immediately, startled by the burst of colorful activity. Read More…

Awaken

Alien

I am not sure how many of us are down here. We do our work in the lab or go on missions, and every task is perfectly coordinated, we are like a perfect machine. Whatever it is, every morning we wake up and we know what needs to be done. It has always been like that, as far as I can remember, but lately I have been experiencing peculiar sensations that I cannot explain.

It is, as if before I was one with the others, just a part in a large organism, but now I feel somehow separated. A thought that scares me, yet excites me at the same time. We all look the same, but lately I have been noticing little differences between us. Somehow I know, I shouldn’t, but I do. Read More…

Why Beautiful Hurts and The Joy of the Palm Tree Gate

Landscape Gia Joseph Giasuniverse

I watch the wind weave through the lush long grass. Each stem and its leaf dance in harmony with the others; all of them together are participating in pattern creation of endless possibilities. Suddenly the breeze notices me and ruffles my hair. It tickles my face and sweeps the hair over my eyes, I turn around and it turns with me. I turn again and the wind does the same…I realize, it’s playing with me, making me dance like it does with the grass  and the clouds above in the sky, and I smile. The wind confirms my thoughts by gently breathing my hair away from my eyes, so I can see into the distance. I inhale, and take the breeze into my lungs, it spreads through my veins into my heart like liquid gold, and I feel it in my soul. Oh, God, it’s beautiful, thank you. Read More…
